Lucknow, Mar 13 - All city roads tonight led to Janeshwar Mishra park in the state capital where grand reception of the marriage of Shivpal Singh Yadav’s son Aditya Singh Yadav was held, with grand pomp and show.
Aditya, nephew of Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, tied the nuptial knot with Raj Laxmi on March 10 in Saifai – the native village of Yadavs in Etawah.
The bride is the daughter of Azamgarh-based politician Sanjay Singh, who is also related to the royal family of Maihar.
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and his entire family members were present in the reception in Janeshwar Mishra park, tipped to be Asia’s biggest park, which was attended by over 20,000 people from all over the state.
SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav, his brother Ram Gopal were seen welcoming the guests.
The entry in this function was restricted. The main pandal was constructed almost 500 meters from the main gate. People were allowed to enter only after showing the invitation card. The guests were allowed to enter from gate number 3 while the VIPs were allowed from gate number 1. Battery operated cars were made available for the aged people.
An event management company from Mumbai took care of the decoration of pandal. It was tastefully decorated with flowers like gladioli, tulips and rajnigandha.
The visitors were treated to a lavish vegetarian dinner that had a dash of both tradition and modernity. It had the flavour of eastern UP in form of Baati chokha while western UP’s Moong dal ka chila and Rajasthan’s Dal baati choorma was in great demand. Also, there were butter paneer, mawa kacahuri with stuffed naan, stuffed gobhi and raj kacahuri. The desert included kesar baati badam, gulab jamun and ice cream.
Among the VVIPs present in the reception were RJD supremo Laloo Yadav, Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar, former Prime Minister HD Dewe Gowda, Congress leaders Digvijay Singh, Kripa Shankar Singh, Amar Singh and hoard of ministers in Akhilesh Yadav’s cabinet.
RLD chief Ajit Singh and former governor Aziz Quereshi were also present in the reception ceremony.
The groom Aditya is the chairman of Pradeshik Cooperative Federation (PCF).
