images (6)Lucknow, Jul 7 - Reiterating his government’s commitment to take Uttar Pradesh to new heights ,Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said that state would witness tremendous change in the next two years as this government has launched schemes for the development of all sections of society. ''The state is galloping to the path of development. What others government could not dream of doing in ten years, the Samajwadi Party government did it in three years. We are working to improve power generation.” Mr Yadav said while inaugurating 250 MW solar power project at Tirwan tehsil in Kannauj today. Former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam was present during the inaugural function. About the development schemes launched by the government he said that he has promised people to improve power generation by the end of 2016 and the government is working towards it.“New thermal power projects have started operation. The government has initiated schemes to include non-conventional projects like setting up of solar power plants,” he said. Mr Yadav said that the green power will help in changing the face of UP. The villages around this power plant will get free electricity. “It is Samajwadi Party government that is constructing Lucknow-Agra Expressway. The area around this expressway would be developed into mart where local farmers will find an easy market,” he said and added that Kannauj will benefit from this expressway as its perfume industry will find a quick gateway to Delhi. “It is ironical that when we are trying to improve speed of development in UP the NDA Government is throwing spanner. It has not released funds required to construct roads, build hospitals, improve power generation and construct irrigation canals. This does not mean our government is not doing enough. We are building infrastructure from our own resources,” he said. Hitting out at BJP ,Mr Yadav said during last Lok Sabha elections the people had reposed faith on this party and elected 71 MPs from UP. Its ally won 2 seats. The Prime Minister is from UP. The Home Minister and Defence Minister are among eight ministers who are from this state. Still, the UP is getting a step motherly treatment from the central government, he said. “When farmers were facing crisis and their crop was washed away from unseasonal rains, we asked assistance from Union Government. It onlky send us Rs 1 crore where as we required over Rs 6000 crore. We did not wait fro assistance from Centre and started relief operation of our own. Ours is the government of farmers who understand the pain and agony of farming community,” he said. Dr Kalam said that solar energy will take away pressure from the conventional method of generating power. This will help in protecting our environment.
