Sources confirmed that after being satisfied with the reply of Mehboob Ali, regarding allegations that he facilitated tainted District Inspector of School J P Mishra, and also in wake of finding no direct involvement of the Minister in corruption charges, Lokayukt Justice (retd), NK Mehrotra, reportedly closed the probe against Ali at primarily stage. Ali was charged for posting Mishra back at DIOS, even when he was held guilty of corruption during an earlier probe by Lokayukta and had also faced suspension. It was also charged that Ali had received his `share’ into corrupt practices allegedly committed by Mishra. After finding substantial evidences against Hardoi DIOS, JP Mishra and that a prosecution has been already sanctioned against him, besides he was facing charges of bigamy, Mr Mehrotra went ahead to get a case registered against Mishra in the fresh matter of corruption. The Lokayukta during current probe against Mishra, reportedly found that the tainted DIOS had given clearance for Science faculty for three colleges in the district when they were having no proper infrastructure. Besides, allegations were also on him that he gave recognition to those colleges, who bribed him for the purpose. A dozen colleges had made complaint in this regard to the DM. Last Feburary, Mr Mehrotra also dispatched an interim report against Mishra to Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav, requesting him to keep the above officer away from examination duties for last Board examinations. ''The evidences which came up before the Lokayukta pointed that Mishra, a tainted officer, was facilitating the cheating mafias in the district and had given clearance to three examination centers for Board examination, which were earlier debarred by the Government for the purpose”, state ombudsman reportedly mentioned in his report sent to Chief Minister. Earlier also, on recommendation of Mr Mehrotra, JP Mishra was suspended and removed from the same post, but the officer reportedly used his connection in the government to get him posted at the same place in Hardoi.
