UP leaders take innovative way to convert their 'scrap'

Lucknow: Some political leaders who had stored huge amount of `black money' to use it during the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, were using innovated ways of preventing their election funds turning into a `scrap’. Sources said a big section of political leaders were upset from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision, but some leaders were trying to evolve a novel way to counter the demonetisation. According to the sources, couple of leaders had distributed anything from Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000 per family as advance for 'voting’ them in the upcoming elections. "We collected this money for you but Narendra Modi does't want that the people were benefited so he ended circulation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, but we are still handing the amount you in advance”, the managers told the voters after advising that that they can easily change it with the new currency from the bank and post offices. Interestingly, the villagers, who were upset with Mr Modi for not fulfilling his promise of depositing Rs 15 lakh of black money, stashed way abroad, into their accounts if his party was voted to power in general assembly elections, were finally happy with Mr Modi’s decision of putting a check on black money, thus make them rich at least by a few thousand rupees after the leader handed over them the money. However, some other political leaders and candidates have asked their supporters to exchange the money and return to them after deducting their so called commission which is around 20 per cent of the amount. There was also a report that several UP ministers were converting their stored 'black' currency into 'white' with the help of their government departments. State Transport minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, was doing such, alleged Aam Admi Party, UP spokesperson Vaibhav Maheshwari here. On the other hand, the domestic help, drivers and other helpers of the state government officials were also enjoying a ' feast ' like situation when they are also being requested to exchange the money by these officials and their family members.
