UP leaders laud ban on red beacon; several Ministers remove it


Lucknow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to ban use of red beacons has been widely welcomed by the political parties in Uttar Pradesh and the state minsters have started removing these from their official vehicles. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in his tweet has welcomed the move of the Centre to ban the use of red beacon light. "I welcome the historic decision of the Centre to remove red beacon. Every Indian is a VIP. We should put our target for the people of Antodaya," he said in his tweet today. However, all the UP Ministers have welcomed the move with UP Health Minister Sidharthnath Singh, Power Minister Srikant Sharma and Women Welfare Minister Rita Bahuguna Joshi, removed red beacons from their official vehicles. Samajwadi Party spokesperson Rajendra Choudhury and UP Congress vice-president Satyadeo Tripathi too have lauded the move of the Centre. "But we will have to see how the decision was implemented and whether the BJP government in the state would strictly follow it," they said.
