Lucknow : With the Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh in early 2017 drawing near, the bureaucrats of the state have preponed the much publicised IAS week this time and it will be held in the state capital from December 1-4. This will be the first time that two IAS weeks are held in 2016 as the last one was organised on March 18-20. The 2017 IAS week was to be held next year in January-February, but due to elections it has been preponed. All eyes will be on Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav if he can repeat his feat this time too by winning the man-of-the-match title in the cricket match between CM XI and IAS XI, which he has been winning for the past four years. This year, the match would be played on December 4, the last day of the IAS week. The decision to hold the IAS week from December 1 was taken at a meeting of the senior IAS officers here in Lucknow last week in the absence of its president Shailesh Krishna, who is presently in Noida. Senior IAS officer Pradeeep Bhatnagar chaired the meeting. Association's secretary Ashish Goel said here today that all the committees have been formed which include the young IAS officers of the state. Though an annual event of IAS officials in the state, the IAS week was discontinued for five years during the previous regime of Ms Mayawati as the then chief minister did not allow it. It was in 2013 that Akhilesh Yadav okayed the event and it was restarted.
