UP govt to provide free ultrasound facility in govt hospitals, opens 60 Urban PHCs

maxresdefaultLucknow, Aug 7 -Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today announced to provide free ultrasound facility to the patients at all the government hospitals from September 1, besides inaugurating a new 100-bed hospital in Faizabad and 60 urban primary health centers at the 'Malin Bastis' of the state. Mr Yadav also announced to set up devotional music systems at the ghats of Saryu in the religious city. The music system has also been installed at the Ganga ghats in Varanasi. In the health sector, the Chief Minister said mechanised cleaning would be introduced in all the district hospitals and operation theatres. He also said by October 2016, at the government hospitals 12,000 additional beds would be made available in the state. Criticising the BJP for demanding DJ during the Kanwari procession, he said, "it is strange that the party was demanding disco music for a religious occasion when government is ready for religious or devotional songs." Mr Yadav was dedicating the health facilities to the public at his official residence here. Announcing more facilities for Faizabad-Ayodhya, he said, "a new under-construction stadium would be inaugurated soon, while some parts in the city would get underground electricity like Azamgarh and Mau districts." "Any work in Ayodhya is always a news in the country and the Samajwadi Party government would not spare anything to develop the religious place," he said. The new 100-bed hospital at Darshan Nagar in Faizabad would be an added advantage along with the district hospital. This hospital would be further expanded to 300 beds in future. From September 1, all the patients of government hospitals would be provided free ultrasound tests facility. At Present, pregnant women are receiving free ultrasound test and others are being charged Rs 100. In 2014, around 7 lakh patients in the government hospitals have availed ultrasound tests. UP government has provided Rs 6 crore for providing free ultrasound tests with setting up 238 ultrasound machines and had purchased an additional 155 colour doppler ultrasound machines for the hospitals. The 60 urban PHCs would be an addition to the 100 such PHCs set up earlier by the government. A total of 558 urban PHCs would be set up in 131 cities of the state to provide health facilities to the urban poor particularly at the malin bastis. Each of these PHCs will have two doctors, 2 staff nurnes, one pharmasists, one lab technician and 3 support staffs. Each of these PHCs have been provided Rs one lakh for medicines.
