UP govt orders campaign in state against power line loss

power_line-jpgLucknow, Jul 20 - Uttar Pradesh government has issued directions to all District Magistrates and Officers of electricity department to conduct a joint campaign for mitigating power line losses by 15 per cent and to regularise the irregular power connections along with installing the electricity meter to augment the revenue recovery. State chief secretary Alok Ranjan issuing the directives here today said participation of common public should be ensured in awareness drive for reducing the power line losses and thereby increasing the hours of power supply in the area concerned. He said the drive should be started from July 21 in presence of nodal officers nominated by UP Power Corporation (UPPCL) for the 100 Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP) towns. He said nominated Nodal officers should be present on sixth and 21st August and sixth September also on the site for monitoring progress of campaign in their area to ensure successful implementation of campaign. Chief Secretary further said it would be the responsibility of concerned Junior Engineers and Assistant Engineers to ensure feeder-wise intensive checking and validation of the G.I.S. Data provided by M/s HCL to bring the new consumers on G.I.S system. Chief Secretary was giving the important instructions to the district magistrates and officials of power department here through Video conferencing. He added that district magistrates should ensure arrangement of land for 33/11 Kv power sub-stations on priority. He instructed the concerned district magistrates to organize urgent meetings with the engineers of their areas to prepare detailed action plan prior to the campaign. He said district magistrates should ensure regular monitoring of the progress during the drive and to provide full support at their level. Mr Ranjan said along with providing the comprehensive security during the campaign in the sensitive areas, district magistrates would be principally responsible for resolution of any untoward incident. He said district Magistrate of those district, where the line losses drop to less than 15 per cent would be rewarded through a citation letter. The CS said in view of crucial role of power sector in the development of state, the state government had instructed to supply power to the district headquarters, tehsil headquarters for 22 hours from October 2016, and for 16 hours to the rural areas. He said in the selected cities, 11 Kv feeder-wise, transformer-wise connections should be physically verified in selected cities and GIS data should also be regularly updated. He has directed to install meters at the premises of all consumers and to ensure replacement of defective meters. He said wherever required, electricity load should be enhanced and bills should be corrected to recover the due revenue. He has instructed for online correction of such electricity consumers, whose connections had been released but bills were not being issued due to some reasons.
