UP govt hikes honorarium of Anganwadi workers

Lucknow: The Anganwadi workers, who had laid a siege to Uttar Pradesh state capital for the last two days, were a happy lot as Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today accepted their demand and announced increase in their honorarium with immediate effect. The announcement was made by Chief Minister after a delegation of Aanganwadi workers called on him. The government has announced increase in honorarium of Anganwadi workers by Rs 800, mini Anganwadi workers by Rs 750 and Angawadi assistant by Rs 400. A government spokesman said that after this increase, Anganwadi workers would get honorarium of Rs 4000 against Rs 3200 they were getting earlier, mini Angawadi workers would get Rs 3000 against Rs 2250 and Anganwadi assistants would get Rs 2000. “This decision will benefit 3,28,000 workers, including 1,54,000 each Anganwadi and Anganwadi assistant workers and 20,000 mini Anganwadi workers,” the spokesman said. “This decision will come into effect from October 1, 2016,” he added.
