Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has written a letter to his Haryana counterpart Manohar Lal Khattar to select an alternate place, as per an MoU between the two states, for a bridge over the Yamuna river between Baghpat and Panipat districts, link road and for safety works. This, Mr Yadav pointed out, may be done by giving necessary directives to administrative and PWD officials of his state so that work on the bridge may be started at the earliest. The Chief Minister, in his letter, which was released to media here today has also said these bridge is very important with regards to business and transport between the two states. He also pointed out that though joint meetings of concerned officials of both the states have been convened but they have not yielded desired results. Mr Yadav had written a letter earlier on August 10, 2015 to Mr Khattar, in response too which the latter had reverted that necessary study of the matter was being done. An MoU had been signed on June 13, 2014 between Mr Yadav and the then Haryana Chief Minister, with regards to construction of a bridge over Yamuna river between Baghpat and Panipat and of link roads on both sides.
