UP CM rides bicycle to promote cycling



Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today enjoyed cycling with school students, including his daughter Tina, to promote cycling in the state to preserve environment and for good health. "The Samajwadi Party government is doing everything to promote cycling in the state by constructing cycle tracks in all the cities," he said. Mr Yadav rode the bi-cycle for about 2 kilometers along with the students on the cycle track in front of his official residence on Kalidas Marg at around 0800 hrs in the morning. "Riding a bi-cycle helps the children and youth learn balance which leads to good learning in their later life," the CM said, adding that cycling also connects society. Mr Yadav was speaking at a function ' Live Green UP' organised by a media house at his official residence here. On his government's priority for preserving environment, the CM said that they have set a target to construct 200 kilometers of cycle track in every city of the state and in Lucknow, already 100 kilometers of track has been completed. "We are making Lucknow and Agra cycle-friendly cities besides Noida and Greater Noida. The state government will also promote cycling at all the tourists places in the state," he announced. Commenting on the yesterday's win in the two Assembly bypolls in the state, he said that the SP government has made its place in the minds of the people by working for them in the past over four years of the regime. UP government is also constructing the country's longest bicycle highway of 197 kilometers from Agra to Etawah to promote environment and tourism.
