UP CM honours IAF martyrs

Lucknow, Sep 3 - Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today honoured martyrs of Air Force who died in a helicopter crash on July 25 last year. “Can anyone forget the rescue act of air force personnel during flash floods in Uttarakhand and Nepal. They risked their lives to save innocent people. The Indian Air Force brought thousands of people to safety otherwise the toll might have been much more”. Mr Yadav said during a felicitation function held at his official residence here . Uttar Pradesh government paid Rs 20 lakh each to the family members of those air force personnel who died in a helicopter crash in Bakshi Ka Talab on Juy 25, 2014. The chopper of Bareilly based 111 unit (Snow Tigers) was on its routine operation from Bareilly to Allahabad when a technical snag developed and the copter crashed killing all the seven occupants. Mr Yadav said that his Government was committed to protect the tradition of air force and this small gesture is an indication of state’s commitment to honour these brave souls. “The tradition of honouring defence personnel was started when Mulayam Singh Yadav was the Defence Minister of the country. This Samajwadi Party Government is only extending that gesture,” he said. Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha thanked CM for this gesture and said that UP government has been extending help to Air Force from time to time. “The UP Government has allowed us to construct air strip at various places at Agra-Lucknow Expressway so we can land our fighters. Other Government should also take a clue from UP and allow us this facility,” Raha said in his address. CM honoured Jaya Rawat, wife of wing commodore TNV Singh, Steffi Pal, wife of Sq Leader Rajagopal Manu, Jyotirmayee Panda, wife of Sergeant Devendra Panda, Namrata Mukherjee wife of Junior Warrant officer Prodipto Mukherjee, Minu Yadav, wife of Corporal Manoj Yadav, Binda Singh father of corporal Rabish Kumar Singh, Dumpa Ramnayya father of Air Crafts Man Dumpa Laxmi Naidu. All of them were given a cheque of Rs 20 lakh each.
