Advocating `dialogue’ over `war’, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said that border issues should be solved through dialogue as war can only bring death and destruction. “The countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, India and Afghanistan were one. Boundaries were etched out by Britishers. We can have dialogue among ourselves and solve our problems. Why think about war,” he said while addressing a rally here. He said a new word surgical attack has been coined by BJP leaders who are master in giving spin to every event. “What is surgical? War is just war. How can a war be surgical? These words are used to create an euphoria among the masses and political parties should stay away from these practicses,” he said. The Chief Minister had a word of caution for those parties and leaders who are asking for proof of surgical strike. “I have studied in army school. I know their discipline. If army is saying surgical strike has taken place we should support our army. The Samajwadi Party has supported Government and NDA on this issue,” he said. He talked at length about government’s achievements. He said he will go to masses with report card. I will tell them how Samajwadi Party Government has changed the face of Uttar Pradesh. New roads have come up. Improvements have been made in the power sector.

He also talked about progress the state has made in dairy development, irrigation, state highways and industry sector. “It is holistic development. You name any sector it has progressed under Samajwadi Party regime,” he said, adding that he will go to the people with his report card and ask them to judge his government and vote accordingly. ''The Samajwadi Party Government has constructed sports stadium. Ours is the government that has opened job avenues. There is tremendous improvement in health sector. The 102 and 108 ambulance services have been a great success and people are happy with this,'' he said. The Chief Minister compared his government’s performance and asked people to vote for development. “Do not waste your vote. Cast your vote for that party which has given you roads, provided you bijli and given bright future for your children by providing them laptops and scholarships for the students. What Samajwadi Party has done in last four years no other government can dream to do it in four decades,” Mr Yadav said.
