TS Govt urges Rajnath to provide financial assistance to state

finance-minister-etela-rajender_0A delegation led by Telangana Deputy Chief Minister (Revenue) Md Mahamood Ali, Finance Minister Eatala Rajender and Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma today called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh at New Delhi and sought financial assistance to the state, which suffered heavy loss due to heavy rains. While submitting details to the Home Minister, they said the loss due to heavy rains was estimated at about Rs 2,202 crore.

Later talking to the media at Telangana Bhavan, Mr Rajender said with heavy rains, Hyderabad city alone suffered loss of Rs 1157 crore. About 1.23 lakh ha crops also damaged in the state. The Minister said apart from breaching of 671 irrigation tanks, 19,435 houses were damaged. Roads and Buildings (Rs 463 crore) and Panchayat Raj roads ( Rs 298 crore) also got damaged, he added. As many as 46 people have lost their lives, the Minister said.
