‘The Jungle Book’ 2nd highest opener of 2016

Riding on the popularity of the franchise and the brilliant special effects, Disney studios' film 'The Jungle Book' has earned a whopping Rs 10.09 cr on its opening day, taking the second highest opening of the year, after Akshay Kumar starrer 'Airlift', trade sources said.

Surpassing expectations, ‘The Jungle Book’ has earned Rs 10.09 crore , figure that is considered huge for a Hollywood film.

Infact, the opening day collections for the film are third highest for any Hollywood film in India, after 'Furious 7' (Rs 12.38 crore) and 'Avengers – The Age of Ultrons' (Rs 10.25 crore).

Trade sources said going by the audience response for the film, it could well cross the Rs 35 crore mark over the weekend.
