Take stern action against elements inimical to communal harmony in J&K: Tarigami to government

Demanding stern action against the fringe elements who are trying to disturb peace and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir, CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami today appealed the people across the state not to fall prey to machinations of such forces, who are hell-bent to divide them on religious lines.

Mr Tarigami, who is the Member of Legislative Assembly from Kulgam, expressed serious concern over the prevailing communal tension in the state and urged all the political streams, civil society and the media to play a positive role in order to keep age-old social and communal amity intact in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Certain elements with partisan political interests want to divide the people on communal lines, which has dangerous ramifications for the unity of the state," he said in a statement.

“The increasing intolerance in Jammu and Kashmir is a matter of serious concern, and the people must rise to the occasion and strongly come out against the communal frenzy that is eating into vital of our cultural ethos,” Mr Tarigami said. The CPI (M) leader demanded that the government strongly act against the elements who indulge in poisonous communal campaign propaganda.
