Suspension of Bhagwant Mann not justified: NAPA

Jalandhar : US Based North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) today said suspension of AAP's MP Bhagwant Mann over recording video of Parliament premises and uploading it on social media, was not justified as other lawmakers also had criminal cases registered against them.
In a statement released here, Satnam Singh Chahal, executive director of the association said that if the suspension of Mr Mann is justified then one-third of MPs in the Lok Sabha who face criminal charges should also be suspended immediately till the time they prove their innocence.
Mr Chahal said, "the 16th Lok Sabha has the highest number of Parliamentarians with criminal cases against them, according to the affidavits filed by them before the Election Commission (EC). Among the major parties, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leads the table with all its four MPs facing criminal charges, followed by the Shiv Sena (15 of 18 MPs) and the Nationalist Congress Party (four of five MPs)."
