Panaji:  Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu will attend the 3rd edition of the CII Goa Conference on Logistics to be held in the city on July 5. According to a statement issued by CII Goa, the transformation of India’s logistics landscape, at a time when the country is preparing for a transition to the next level of logistics growth, needs a clear and sustainable vision which can prospectively leverage its economic potential. Such a vision embraces the concept of logistics hubs. Goa, with its strategic positioning in the demography of western India, has the potential to evolve as a prime logistics hub which can cater to large parts of southern Maharashtra and northern Karnataka. The recent increase in the volume of freight traffic has opened up opportunities in all facets of logistics including transportation, warehousing, freight forwarding, express cargo delivery, container and shipping services. 'There is a need to create comprehensive logistics solutions that can offer high value proposition to all relevant stakeholders. This can be achieved through strong private sector participation, supported by a regulatory environment. Against this backdrop, we will deliberate upon the imperatives required to boost Goa’s logistics sector, improve logistics infrastructure and deepen connectivity,' the statement added.
