New Delhi : Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports Vijay Goel today announced the cash award of Rs 10 lakh to Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra for creating World Record at the IAAF world U 20 athletics Championship in Bydgoszcz, Poland. 'I am delighted to announce that Min of Sports would award Rs 10 Lakh to Neeraj Chopra for winning gold Medal at U-20 World Championship.

'Congratulations Neeraj Chopra to become first Indian world champion in athletics. Kudos!! You have made India proud,' Mr Goel tweeted . Chopra, who clinched gold medal in the event by throwing the javelin at a distance of 86.
