Snowfall on high reaches down streams lashed with rain

Shimla, Mar 13 - High reaches of Himachal Pradesh experienced moderate to heavy snowfall today, disrupting life in the state. The down streams lashed with rain and thundershowers and the weather was mainly dry in the afternoon.


Headquarters of Lahaul Spiti got 50 cm Snowfall yesterday registered 23 cm snowfall over night, Kalpa in Kinnuar also had one feet high snowfall got ten centimeter snowfall. Gateway to Lahaul Spiti, 13050 high Rohtang Pass got two to three feet fresh snowfall.


Kasauli in Solan district got 55 mm rainfall,Dharampur in Mandi 49 mm,Jubbar Hatti 48 mm, tourist resort Manali Manali 45 mm, Kandaghat in Solan & Shimla 44 mm each, Bhuntar-42 mm, Araki in Solan & Kumarsen in Shimla 41 mm each, Nav Bahar in Shimla 36 mm, Sarahan in Shimla 35 mm, Janjehli in Mandi 34 mm, & Kufri (AWS)-34 each, Solan-33 mm, Seobagh in Kullu 32 and Jhandutta in Bilaspur 30.


Overnight lightening rain and thundershowers disrupted power supply in the state. Many areas of state is still in darkness as power supply could not restored due to continue inclement weather.


Minimum temperature came down drastically in the state as it recorded three to four degree down from the Normal.


Shimla was low at 3.2 degrees, Sundernagar 8.6 degrees. Bhuntar 5.9 degrees, Kalpa at zero degrees, Dharamshala 8.6 degrees, Una 15.6 degrees, Nahan 9.7 degrees, Keylong minus 3.6 degrees, Dalhousie4.4 degrees, Solan 7.5 degrees, Manali 0.4 degres, Kangra 10.4 degrees, Bilaspur 12.3 degrees, Hamirpur 14.1 degrees, Mandi 12.4 degrees.


Met office forecast rain and snowfall at few places in the high reaches and rain and thundershowers in few place in the mid hill and isolated part of foot hills in the next 24 hours.
