Sharp Shooter held by UP STF

arrest2Lucknow, Aug 3 - The special Task Force(STF) Of Uttar Pradesh police has nabbed a sharp shooter Sumit Singh, alias Monu Chawwani, along with his cohort Chandrika Sahni alias Pappu in the state capital last night after a brief encounter. There was a bounty of Rs 50,000 on Monu and that of Rs 10,000 on Chandrika. Additional Director General of Police for Law and Order, Daljit Singh Chaudhary here today said, "Monu and his close aide Chandrika were caught in a joint operation of Lucknow and Gorakhpur STF when they were trying to smuggle arms near Kukrail bridge under Mahanagar police station." Both were wanted in several cases of murder and kidnapping in both UP and Bihar." Mr Chaudhary said. Police has recovered a nine mm carbine which belonged to Upendra Singh, close aide to mafia Shahabuddin imprisoned in Siwan district jail of Bihar. Police also seized a 32 bore revolver which belonged to one Mohammed Alauddin. Couple of country made pistols from the possession of the arrested criminals and over a dozen mobile phones along with the sim cards were also seized from their possession. They were also absconding in a murder case of Shrikant Bhartiya,a jeweller and spokesperson to Bhartiya Janta Party's Member of Parliament Om Prakash Yadav. Two other assailiants involved in this murder named Shailendra Yadav and Vikas Pal were earlier killed in a police encounter. While Monu is a native of Lucknow, the other Chandrika is a resident of Gorakhpur.
