Chennai:  With the Centre setting an ambitious July 1 target for the roll out of GST, coupled with several measures to clear hurdles in attracting FDI, and indices showing a big improvement in the ease of doing business, the Narendra Modi-led NDA government is celebrating its three year in office with MODI Fest ( Making of Developed India Festival) throughout the country. The second phase of the Fest begins tomorrow with four events in Tamil Nadu - the main one being held at Tiruppur. The other places where the event is taking place are Tirunelveli, Tiruvannamalai and Tiruvallur. Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu and Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma will be the guests of honour at the Modi fest in the country’s textile hub of Tiruppur. The initiatives taken by the centre to revive the textile industry, various sops given to hosiery industry will be highlighted during the event. As a precursor to the MODI Fest, an LED mounted van is making rounds in the district informing people about the event, like the Town Hall venue and other details of the inauguration of the three-day programme. Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways & Shipping Pon Radhakrishnan launched the first Modi Fest in Chennai on June 2. The 3-day festival is being celebrated in all state capitals besides 300 locations across the country. Union Ministers, Chief Ministers of BJP ruled states, Members of Parliament are travelling across the nation to inform the people about the centre’s achievements over the last three years besides taking the message of the government schemes, projects and initiatives to improve the lives of the poor and steps taken for inclusive growth. A key component of the outreach programme to carry the message of the government is the three -day MODI Fest in various cities. An Exhibition showcasing the various flagship programmes of the Government, photographs of the big infrastructure projects launched by the centre will feature as part of this Festival. A unique feature of the three-day event is Jan Ki Baat, an opportunity for an ordinary citizen to express his/her frank views on the government’s functioning to the Prime Minister, and stalls to highlight major programmes like Jan Dhan Yojana, Swachh Bharat, Beti Bachao, Beti Padao. In tune with the Digital Initiative of the Centre, People who visit the exhibition will be provided scheme wise information on various welfare schemes launched by the government at the press of a button. Info Kiosks will provide scheme wise information as per individual requirement. Another innovative idea is Selfie with PM, where visitors could click a selfie with a life size cut out of the Prime Minister. Guidance session by experts on various subjects, Download of APPs launched by various ministries , Lucky draw are other attractions of the three-day event.
