Scindia slams BJP over Happiness Ministry in MP

Sheopur : Taking a dig at the Madhya Pradesh Government for setting up Happiness Ministry - constituted with allocation of budget to the tune of Rs 30 crore - senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia said that it has no justification until and unless poor and tribal folk become happy. “I am perplexed and saddened to see that as many as 65 children died in Karhal and Vijaypur in Sheopur District due to malnutrition while about 500 children are being treated in various hospitals despite crores sanctioned in budget to stop malnutrition,” Mr Scindia, who came to visit the tribal-dominated forest area, told media here yesterday. Mr Scindia said Congress workers would go to the shanties of malnutrition children for survey, if the government bureaucrats failed to conduct proper survey. "The UNICEF declared 75 per cent malnourished tribal children in 2007 but the BJP regime could not earmark the percentage in 2016 and the reason behind it. It was nothing but the neck-deep corruption that was prevailing in the rank and file in the state," he said. Slamming the BJP, the former Union minister said they were observing Narendra Modi Prime Minister’s birthday as ‘Seva Diwas’ but failed to turn up to serve the poor and tribal labourers.
