SC refuses ED early hearing in Karthi PMLA case

New Delhi:  The Supreme Court today refused to give an early or urgent hearing to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) plea which had filed a PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) case against Karthi Chidambaram. Karthi is the son of former Finance Minister P Chidambaram. A division bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Jagdish Singh Khehar refused to give an early hearing to the ED's plea. The ED asked the apex court that whether the Madras High Court has the jurisdiction to hear Karthi's plea in connection with the matter or not. Karthi had filed a plea in the Madras High Court challenging the summons issued by the ED in the money laundering case.
