Rudy rejects Labour Bureau data showing decrease in employment

New Delhi: Union Skill Development Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy today categorically rejected the Labour Bureau data that showed decrease in employment, saying that it was based on inadequate samples, small coverage area and wrong premises.
‘’The Labour Bureau survey was only confined to eight sectors and was based on record from economic establishments employing 10 or more workers, and it does not document employment in agricultural sector,’’ Mr Rudy told .
Tracking only firms that employ 10 or more workers across eight sectors means it tracks only about three crore workers when the agriculture sector alone employed 47 crore people, he said.
According to Labour Bureau Quarterly Employment Survey(QES), the number of jobs created in 2015 and 2016 were the lowest since 2009.
Disputing this conclusion, Mr Rudy said the report conveniently forgets that 2009 was the first year the labour bureau published any employment report.
