Rajnath speaks to Gujarat CM, MHA rushes additional forces to the state

New Delhi, Aug 26: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today spoke to Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel regarding the law and order situation in the state.


The Home Ministry is in constant touch with the Gujarat Government after violence was reported from across the state last evening following the brief detention of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) convener Hardik Patel and lathicharge on his supporters at the rally venue.


"Spoke to Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel regarding the law and order situation in the state,’’ the Home Minister said in a statement. Additional forces have been rushed to Gujarat to control the situation.


Mr Patel was released a couple of hours later. However, protestors set ablaze three police chowkies. The residences of state ministers Rajnikant Patel and Nitin Patel were attacked in Mehsana.
