Rainwater enters Mahakaleshwar shrine

temple-story_647_072115051046Bhopal, Jul 21 -Even as heavy rain continued to lash some areas of Madhya Pradesh for the fourth consecutive day, for the first time in the history of the ancient temple town’s Mahakaleshwar shrine, rainwater entered the sanctum sanctorum in the early hours today. The Koti Tirth Kund, located in front of the sanctum sanctorum, was filled to capacity as Ujjain is constantly experiencing precipitation for the past three days. The town recorded 30 inches during the period and the figure was the state’s highest. Leakage from the Kund caused water to enter the sanctum sanctorum. Priests performed the Bhasm Aarti while standing in water, which was taken out in the morning.
