Rains continue to lash Himachal Pradesh

Shimla : Rain fury continued in Himahcal Pradesh as one more killed in rain related incidents, while inclement weather also affected power and water supply and road communication. A apple laden truck fell down 1000 feet deep gorge at Sidhpur ten kilometer from tourist resort of Narkanda killing one person on the spot and spilling apples over the hill. Deceased identified as Anil. Driver of truck is also reported to be critical. Apple transportation has been affected due to formation of slush on Theog-Hartkoti-Jubbal and Chopal raod at a few points on under construction road. Report said apple laden trucks get stuck in the slush at Patidhank junction near Jubbal and Dochi area of Chopal. The loaded truck were being pulled out of muck by the earth movers. Many apple laden trucks were stranded on link road at Mowri, Jegoti, Koti and Mogra villages. Power supply was yet to be restored at many places in Shimla district as supply lines were down due to felling of trees at many places. VIP areas of Shimla town including Oak Over, Rajbhavan, Stokes Palace, Benmore and part of Chota Shimla were in dark after snapping of power lines near Rajbhavan yesterday. State has reported about 257 per cent excess rainfall during last 48 hrs.
