Rahul Gandhi to visit Amethi on August 18

rahulgandhiAmethi, Aug 7-Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi will be on a two-day visit to Amethi on August 18 and 19. The visit, party leaders here today said, is the Amethi MP's routine tour to meet people in the constituency and to monitor development activities assigned through his MP local Area Development funds. This will be Gandhi's first trip to Amethi since May, when he led a foot march through Jagdishpur to protest the quiet burial of mega food park project in his parliamentary constituency. The BJP government at the Centre has now also announced shifting of the Hindustan Paper Mill project from Amethi to Maharashtra, citing easier availability of bamboo and pulp, for the shift. Mr Gandhi had, in both cases, referred to the decisions as ''anti-poor'' and a reflection of the Centre's "vendetta politics."
