Police busts gang of drug suppliers, arrests two



Phagwara :913826-Arrest-1435872448-188-640x480 Phagwara Police today arrested a gang of inter-state drug suppliers and arrested its two members near Village Rampur Sunnrra in Phagwara Sub Division. The CIA Staff of the Phagwara Police headed by Inspector Inderjit Singh arrested Gujjar Ishmdeen of Kot-Karar Khan PS Kapurthala and Raghav Ali of Village Sahiswan District Badau(UP) near chowk Peer-Pranian. Giving details, Senior Superintendent of the Police Kapurthala Sandeep Sharma told reporters that the police has recovered 3 kg of Opium from the arrested accused who were going on a without number bike to deliver the opium brought from Bareilly (UP) in various places of the Punjab on the instructions of a Sahiswan resident drugs smuggler Abdul Rahim. Police has also impounded their bike. Abdul Rahim is still absconding, said SSP Sharma. Raids are being conducted to nab him to break the supply chain of the drugs, said Sharma. In another success, a team of Sadar Police Phagwara headed by Inspector Lakhbir Singh arrested two vehicle thieves identified as Akaashdeep @ Gulu of Chahal Nagar Phagwara and Hira Singh of local Mansa Devi Nagar Phagwara and recovered six stolen motorcycles from their possession. DSP Phagwara Dev Dutt Sharma said the accused were nabbed at check point near Chachoki. The DSP said during interrogation the police recovered five more bikes kept in bushes near Bishanpur. The arrests were made under section 379/411 of IPC. SSP Sandeep Sharma said a special team would be sent to Bareilly to nab other drugs suppliers and to break the chain completely. He said the campaign against the drugs would continue to make the region drug-free.
