PM, Akhilesh-Rahul to hold roadshows in Varanasi tomorrow


Varanasi: Tomorrow when Uttar Pradesh witnesses sixth phase polls in 49 seats, it would be a D-day for the temple city when Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav and his alliance partner Congress Vice-president Rahul Gandhi will hold roadshows to woo the voters for the last phase polls to be held in the area on March 8. Prime Minister's road show will cover around 15 km and entail darshan of Kashi Vishwanath and Kal Bhairav temples at 0900 hrs. However, the road show of the Akhilesh-Rahul with a slogan of 'UP ko Yeh Saath Pasand Hai' will commence later in the day though both the road shows will pass through common place of Godholia and Chowk. BJP sources here said that the PM will commence his roadshow from BHU gate after 'Janata Darshan' and will pass through Ravidas Gate Lanka, Assi, Bhaidaini, Sonarpura, Madanpur, Godauliya , Bans Fatak, Gyanpapi. Mr Modi will pay obeisance at the Baba Vishwanath Temple. Later, the PM's road show will move to Chowk, Nichibagh, Maidagin, Kotwali Police Station, Vishveswarganj, Gujarat Vidya Mandi and will culminate at Kal Bhairav temple. More than 15 Union Ministers and over 50 senior BJP leaders are camping in Varanasi for the past one week and were reaching out at every nook and corner of the city to woo the voters in favour of the BJP candidates. The Akhilesh- Rahul road show will start at around 1300 hrs from Kutchery after paying floral tributes to Dr BR Ambedkar statue. The alliance's roadshow will then move to Nadeshar, Pani Tanki, Doshipura, Golgadda, Pili Kothi, Chowk, Godauliya and will end at Girjaghar Chowraha covering about 14 kms. Before the roadshow, both the SP and Congress leaders would address two separate election meetings for their respective candidates in and around Varanasi. Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati ,who has already addressed around 50 election meetings during the past around one month of campaigning, will end her electioneering on March 5 after addressing a rally in Varanasi.
