Patel quota leader to meet Gujarat CM tomorrow

Ahmedaba/Surat, Sep 13 - Pro-reservation agitation leader Hardik Patel, who called off today's reverse Dandi march, has been invited by Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel for talks tomorrow.

Patidar Ananmat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) spokesperson Alpesh Kathiriya said the decision to postpone the 350-km-long reverse Dandi march was taken late last night following an assurance by state's Energy Minister Saurabh Patel that the Chief Minister had agreed to meet the pro-quota leader to consider the agitators' demands.

He said PAAS would decide to take out the long march if the talks with the Chief Minister fails.

Yesterday was the second time PAAS leader Hardik had announced postponement of the reverse Dandi march. First time, the march was postponed from September 6 to 13 after the government refused to give PAAS the permission.

Though the government had again not given permission to take out the march on September 13, the Patel agitation leader had threatened to stick to the plan even at the risk of courting arrest.

The administration had deployed a large contingent of police, Border Security Force and Central Reserve Police force and promulgated prohibitory orders in Navsari district to prevent violence between the agitating Patels and the other backward classes (OBCs) who too had threatened to take out rallies to counter the PAAS.
