Panic grips passengers of Mumbai bound train due to fire in general coach

Panic gripped passengers travelling to Mumbai from Gorakhpur when fire broke out in a general coach of the LTT express near Amausi railway station here today.

Railway police sources here said the fire was witnessed in the general coach just after the engine reached between Manaknagar and Amausi railway stations.

Preliminary investigation says that short circuit in the electric wire inside the coach was the reason behind the fire. The train was stopped at Amausi station and fire-brigade douzed the fire.

Due to the incident, the train was detained for about one hour at the Amausi railway station and later resumed its onward journey to Mumbai. No one was injured in the incident, GRP sources said.
