OPS camp 'sacks' Sasikala, her nephews from AIADMK

Chennai:  The crisis within the ruling AIADMK further deepened with the 'rebel' camp led by former CM O Panneerselvam sacking AIADMK General Secretary V K Sasikala and her two nephews, including T T V Dinakaran, from the primary membership of the party for violating party principles and discipline. In a statement here, E Madhusudhanan, who was removed from the post of Presidium Chairman and also from the party for siding with the OPS camp, said Sasikala had went back on her promise made to late J Jayalalithaa that she would not aspire for any post in the party or in power. After she was expelled by Jayalalithaa in December 2011 along with others, including her husband Natarajan and her nephews Dinakaran and S Venkatesh, Sasikala had tendered an apology letter that she would not aspire for any post or power. 'Since she had went back on her promise and following her involvement in several criminal cases, Sasikala was expelled from the primary membership of the AIADMK for acting in a manner that brought disrepute to the party', Madhusudhanan said. In a separate statement, he said the re-induction of Dinakaran and Venkatesh and the former's appointment as Deputy General Secretary was also cancelled. Both of them were expelled by Jayalalithaa for betraying her several years back, he said, adding, their re-induction into the party fold without any authority by Sasikala that they had expressed regret for their past acts, was not acceptable,. 'Hence their re-induction and the appointment of Dinakaran as the Deputy General Secretary are cancelled', Mr Madhusudhanan said.
