Security personnel were still clueless about the gruesome killing of NIA DSP Tanzil Ahmed in Bijnore. However, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today asked the state DGP Javed Ahmed to assist the central agencies in nabbing the criminals besides doing everything to solve the case. Mr Yadav has also announced an exgratia payment of Rs 20 lakh to the family of the deceased DSP.
UP police has still not ruled out terrorist angle in the killing. State ATS DIG Umesh Srivastava told UNI today that all the security agencies are working together but nothing concrete has emerged so far. He said that wife of the slain DSP was out of danger in a private hospital in Noida. The security agencies have already got hold of the video recordings of the marriage function of the niece of the DSP while several CCTV recordings have also been acquired, which shows about the two assailants in a motor cycle. State ATS IG Aseem Arun,STF I G Ram Kumar and officials of NIA were camping in Bijnore while UP police has sent a report over the killing to the Centre.
The NIA officer was shot dead when he was returning from the wedding function of his niece along with his family members. In the post-mortem, doctors found 24 bullet injuries in the body of Tanzil Ahmed. His wife Farzana also received four bullet injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Noida in a critical condition . According to police today, two criminals fired on Tanzil Ahmed when he was returning to his residence with his wife and two children from a wedding function at around 0100 hrs after mid night. The incident occurred near his residence in Sahaspur village under Sheohara police station.
The criminal overtook the car of the deceased on their motorcycle and pumped bullets from a close distance. The children aged 15 and 12 years were unhurt with their father asking them to go hiding in the back seat . The criminals had reportedly used prohibitory 9mm pistol to kill the officer. As per the report the children were on the back seat of the car and the criminals only attacked the NIA officer and his wife. While Tanzil was pronounced dead on arrival at a medical facility in Moradabad, his wife Farzana is critical and battling for her life. The deceased was recruited in the BSF and later went to the NIA on deputation six years back. Recently he was promoted to DSP and was given permanent posting in the NIA. Earlier Tanzil was also in the team investigating into the blast in a house on Burdwan in West Bengal in which one person was killed on October 2, 2014.
