NHRC issues notice to AP govt over assault on woman Tehsildar by TDP MLA

chandrababu-naidu1-310x165New Delhi, Jul 20- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) today issued a notice to the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police, Andhra Pradesh over an incident of a woman being allegedly beaten up by a TDP MLA. According to media reports, a woman Tehsildar from Krishna district was beaten by an MLA, owing allegiance to sand mafia in the presence of policemen on July 9. The Commission observed that the contents of the media report, if found true, raised a serious issue of violation of human rights of the victim. It has given two weeks’ time to the officials to submit a factual report in the matter. The woman Tehsildar had gone to the site of sand mining in the district and asked to stop the commercial sand mining. The MLA reached the spot, objected to her action and assaulted her. The policemen present there did not take any step to protect the victim, reports stated.
