New policy will bring no results: Kiran Choudhry

kiran-2Chandigarh, Aug 11- Kiran Choudhry, Leader of the Haryana Congress Legislature Party (CLP), today branded the new industrial policy approved by the state Cabinet as one that “will bring about neither industrialisation, nor attract fresh investment, nor help create more jobs” the youth of the state is craving for. In a statement issued here, the former Excise and Taxation Minister said that the highlights of the policy show it is conspicuously silent on two basic issues. Firstly, how land will be made available for setting up industry outside the estates set up by HSIIDC; and secondly, how the state government which is short of power and is forced to resort to frequent cuts and tripping, will make it available to new units, she questioned. “Land and power are fundamental to industry. Land has not been promised to prospective entrepreneurs. Then, it passes one’s comprehension that when the existing units are suffering for want of power, made to resort to lay-offs, and some are even thinking in terms of folding up, how the state government can promise or give power to the new units,” she asked. “The Manohar Lal Khattar Government should realise that change in the name of the policy from industrial policy to Entrepreneur Promotion Policy alone will not bring results. Real work has to be done at the ground level of which one finds little evidence in all the policies announced so far,” Ms Choudhry added.
