MPPEB scam: “We will not disappoint country,” says CBI Jt Director

cbi-logo_8Bhopal, Jul 13 - Federal police officers got into the act today as a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry formally commenced into the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) inconsistencies that have made international headlines and come as a boon for the state’s principal opposition Congress that was earlier groping for issues. “We will not disappoint the country,” CBI Joint Director RP Agrawal shot back with a smile in response to media queries at the Raja Bhoj Airport here. It was mentioned to him that the nation reposes considerable hopes in the CBI. The Indian Police Service officer, who has experience of tackling several high-profile cases, said the investigating agency’s work vis-à-vis the MPPEB irregularities commenced following receipt of the Supreme Court’s directive in that context. Meanwhile, sources said that a team comprising about a dozen CBI officers arrived in the state capital. The group reached the local CBI office and conferred with their counterparts posted here. This morning itself, the state police’s Special Task Force officials went to the same office, had discussions and handed over some documents. In the evening, CBI officers held a crucial meeting that lasted more than an hour and deliberated on various aspects of the scam. STF officers were present at the gathering.
