More trouble for IPS Amitabh Thakur as Lokayukta recommends CBI probe,HC dismisses the petition.

16af4c1Lucknow, Aug 26 - Lokayukta Retd Justice N K Mehrotra has recommended a CBI and Enforcement Directorate probe against IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, who alleged threat by Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, in a disproportionate asset case. The Lokayukta said that in the first instance all the complaints filed against Mr Thakur seems true therefore he has written a letter to Chief Minister, Chief Secretary , Principal Secretary for Home and Vigilance Commission for probing into the matter. He added that an investigation was underway since January 2012 by the vigilance commission thus he has sent this letter after getting the report from Director of Society Firms and District Magistrate of Lucknow and Barabanki. He even said that the court wanted to know weather there was any commercial motive behind the litigation filed by Mr Thakur. On the other hand Mr Thakur has written a letter to the Chief Minister AKhilesh Yadav, requesting him to order transparent probe by the officers of vigilance commission or to get him arrested after getting an FIR registered against him.

meanwhile The Lucknow division of Allahabad High Court today dismissed the petition of suspended Indian Police Service(IPS) officer Amitabh Thakur in the Lokayukta matter. The Uttar Pradesh government told the court that the Lokayukta probe in the case was complete thus there is no base for the petition filed by Mr Thakur. The decision was passed by the court comprising Justice Shabiul Rehman and Devendra Kumar Upadhyay while hearing on the petition. Mr Thakur in his petition had demanded to stop the lokayukta probe as it was done against the Lokayukta act 1975.
