Modi govt committed to increase rail network: Manoj Sinha

Deoria :  Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha today claimed that Modi government was committed to increase railway network and create investment for its expansion. While talking to the media here Mr Sinha said that since independence, railway network did not expand in comparison to growing rail passengers, which have been increased to 19 times. "The BJP government at the Centre has decided to increase the investment in this sector", Mr Sinha claimed. Mr Sinha said railway network should be increased in proportion to population. The minister said the investment in highway sector has been increased six times in comparison to railway.

The annual average investment in railway sector by former government was Rs 48,000 crore which was increased to Rs 1 lakh crore by BJP government in previous fiscal year and current year it will be Rs 1.25 lakh crore, Mr Sinha said He said in-order to strengthen the railway network, Central government has decided to invest sufficient amount of money in this sector. “By 2020, we want to develop railway system which can facilitate current reservation and witness trains on time", Mr Sinha expressed. Mr Sinha also assured that the work of expansion of railway track and construction of new tracks will be started shortly in Eastern UP.
