Mayawati demands early Assy polls in UP after tussle in first family of ruling SP

Lucknow :  Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati today demanded that the Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh be advanced and held immediately in view of the alleged prevailing anarchy in the state in the wake of the ongoing tussle in the first family of the ruling Samajwadi Party.
"Election Commission should not wait further and announce the polls dates as the 22 crore people of UP are suffering from 'Jungle Raj' and the ongoing differences within the first family of the SP will deteriorate the situation further," she said in a statement here.
Ms Mayawati said that it is the duty of the EC to hear the problems faced by the people and the elections in January-February, 2017 should be re-scheduled and be held earlier.
