Martyr SP Baljit's family demands SP rank job for son

Martyr SP Baljit

sp1Kapurthala, Jul 28 - Kapurthala district administration faced a tough situation today when the family of slain Gurdaspur SP Baljit Singh demanded SP rank job for his son Maninder Singh and outsiders jobs for daughters Parminder Kaur and Ravinder Kaur. The family refused to cremate the SP who was gunned down by the militants in an attack on Dinanagar Police Station yesterday. Kulwant Kaur, wife of the SP, expressed apprehensions that the family would get
jobs
and other extra benefits. She said the family had already suffered a lot in the past when her father in law Inspector Achhar Singh was killed by the militants and the family had to make stringent efforts to get jobs for her husband Baljit Singh. She said her son should be handed over the appointment letter immediately and before her husband was consigned to flames. She also alleged that the state government did not provide sophisticated weapons to the police force for
an encounter
with the militants. Deputy Commissioner D S Mangat and SSP Ashish Chaudhry feigned ignorance about the development. Maninder Singh, son of SP Baljit Singh, said he should be given the job of SP in his father's place and decides jobs to both of his sisters as the Chief Minister had done in the case of Sarabjit Singh, who was assassinated in a Pakistan jail. The chief minister had then given a huge sum of Rs One crore and job of tehsildars to his daughter.
