Mamata lambasts Congress over corruption during UPA tenure

Chief Minister and All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) supremo Mamata Banerjee today lambasted the Congress over the corruption during the United Progressive Alliance's (UPA) tenure.
Addressing election rallies here at Kolkata and Hooghly district, Ms Banerjee took on the Congress for attacking her party over the Saradha chit fund scam, questioning the corruption during the UPA’s tenure.
“The Congress is talking about Saradha.

The Saradha scam started in 2000 during the Left Front regime.
How can you raise issues like corruption when there was corruption like coal and 2G scam during the UPA?” she questioned.

The AITC supremo said the Congress-CPI(M) alliance will not get even 20 seats after the results were announced.
She dismissed CPI(M) state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra's claims that the said alliance is moving towards 200 mark after the fourth phase of the polls.
Ms Banerjee said, “The alliance says it will win 200 seats of the 294 assembly seats in the state.
Let them first win 20 seats.
People of Bengal have not forgotten the atrocities during CPI(M) rule.
” On the prospects of BJP in the state, the chief minister said BJP has done nothing for Bengal even after it got two seats from the state in the last Lok Sabha polls.

“The BJP has done nothing for Bengal, they only keep saying no development has taken place in Bengal.
But what you yourself had done after coming to power at the Centre,” Ms Banerjee questioned, Earlier, Sharing a stage with former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi today addressed a rally in Kolkata where he attacked Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over numerous issues.
Mr Gandhi said Mamataji before coming to power had assured to fight corruption but now her party leaders, MPs MLAs, and ministers have been accused of various corruptions.

"I ask Mamataji why she is silent when her party leaders have been caught taking money from Saradha scam and Narada sting operation.
The terrorist money is in the Narada scam," Mr Gandhi pointed out.
He said the people had given her five years time but the state government kept quite in various scams.

"Now the Congress-left alliance will come after May 19 and clean the corruptions," Mr Gandhi added.
