Majority schools remain shut due to restrictions in parts of Srinagar


Srinagar: Majority educational institutions remained closed following imposition of restrictions by the authorities in several parts of the downtown and Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) as a precautionary measure.
However, the District Magistrate (DM), Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone has extended the suspension of class work in S P Higher Secondary School, in the civil lines and MP Higher Secondary School in the downtown today as a precautionary measure today also.
Though teaching and other staff are attending their duties the class work in these educational institutions remained suspended for the past about one week.
Class work was being suspended in different educational institutions in the valley following protests by students who are demanding release of their classmates and action against security forces who entered a Degree college in Pulwama last month.
However, due to restrictions imposed in the areas falling under the police stations of Nowhatta, Safakadal and M R Gunj to prevent Hurriyat Conference rally on the eve of 27th death anniversary of Mirwaiz Farooq, educational institutions remained closed there.
