Lucknow : Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) running against time to complete the first phase of the North-South corridor before the announcement of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls slated early next year, has announced that the commercial run of the first phase of 8 kilometers between Transport Nagar and Mavaiya would commence from March 26,2017. Earlier LMRC was trying hard to finish the first phase of nine kilometers works between Transport Nagar and Charbagh station but as the work on the Mavaiya special span has been delayed, now they are going for trials starting from December 1 between elevated portion of Transport Nagar to Maviaya stations.
LMRC Managing Director Kumar Keshav said here today that commercial run between TP Nagar to Maviaya would start from March 26 after over three months of trials starting from December 1. He said that metro coaches would arrive from Chennai by November 15 and there after they will be run on the 635 meters long special testing track prepared at the TP nagar station. Among the six stations, where the metro will run in the first phase, works of over 50 per cent have been completed in four stations of-- Transport Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Alambagh and Mavaiya while it was less that 50 per cent in two remaining stations-- Shringarnagar and Alambagh bus stand . Meanwhile, LMRC chairman Alok Ranjan has directed the officials to complete the work of setting up of the Metro control room by October next. LMRC has also ordered ticket vending machines for all the stations for the first phase.
