Lt. Gen Rajan Ravindran takes over as chief of staff , Central Command

Lucknow : Lieutenant General Rajan Ravindran, Vishisht Seva Medal,today took over as Chief of Staff (COS), Central Command here. He is a graduate from Loyola College, Chennai and an alumnus of Officers Training Academy, Chennai. Commissioned into the 13th Battalion of The GRENADIERS Regiment in September 1978, Lt Gen Ravindran commanded the same battalion from June 1998 to December 2001 in the North East. During his illustrious career spanning almost 38 years, Lt Gen Ravindran has held varied command and staff appointments. He has participated in a number of operations to include counter insurgency operations in Mizoram, Punjab & Assam, ‘Operation VIJAY’ and ‘Operation MEGHDOOT’. He has been an instructor at the Indian Military Training Team, Bhutan. Lieutenant General Rajan Ravindran commanded a coveted Independent Mountain Brigade Group, an Infantry Division in the Western Sector and was the Chief Instructor (Army) in Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. In his last assignment, Lieutenant General Ravindran was General Officer Commanding, Delhi Area and was awarded Vishisht Seva Medal for his valuable contributions.
