New Delhi: Terming the GST architecture unveiled by the Centre as 'a multilayered GST architecture for the rich, by the rich and of the rich', the Congress today said the new system ran contrary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's promise of 'sab ka saath, sab ka vikas". 'At the stroke of midnight, launch of a multilayered GST architecture is for the rich, by the rich and of the rich,' AICC spokesperson and former Union Law Minister Kapil Sibal said in a tweet. 'Where is "sab ka saath , sab ka vikas" Modiji ? With "paytm ka saath" how can there be "sab ka vikas" ?,' Mr Sibal questioned. In a series of tweets, AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh termed the GST launched by the government as 'most complicated and badly structured'. 'Mr Modi is describing the most complicated tax system as 'Good and simple tax' God save India!,' Mr Singh tweeted. 'From today, we have the most complicated and badly structured GST on roll,' he tweeted. He also charged Mr Modi with making a 'U turn' on GST after having opposed it during the rule of UPA at the Centre. 'Very amusing to hear Modi supporting GST which he vehemently opposed. Shows his utter lack of Vision,' Mr Singh said. President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi jointly launched the new indirect tax regime Goods and Services Tax (GST) at midnight last night, ushering in a new era of ‘One Nation-One Tax’ in the Indian economy
