Kidnapped 'Mahamandleshwar' of Meerut temple found dead

Lucknow, May 5 -Thekidnapping of self-proclaimed Mahamandleshwar (Head) of a temple in Surajkund at Meerut took an ugly turn when the local police recovered his body today. The victim was found to be kidnapped and later shot dead before his body was dumped in a secluded place. Local Meerut police now altered the matter as that of kidnapping and murder and further investigations are on to close down of the criminals involved in the crime. Reports said that 52-year-old Rajendra Swaroop Ji Maharaj, the self-proclaimed Mahamandeleshwar of Baba Manoharnath Temple, was abducted while he was taking a stroll near his house in Phool Bagh colony on Tuesday night. The kidnappers abducted Swaroop and fled away in a car. The FIR has been registered against three persons, including one Natwar, following a complaint by Swaroop's son Shivam. The cops launched a hunt for the kidnappers but failed to get any success. Reports further said that the matter took an ugly turn when the cops of the Mawana police station in Meerut were informed of an unknown body lying in the jungles at Nagla Gosai area this morning. They rushed to the spot and identified the victim as that of abducted Mahamandeleshwar. Gun shot injuries have been found on the victim’s body suggesting that someone closed to him had shot him dead and later dumped his body. Local police also claimed that Rajendra Swroop was a `tantrik’ and not mahamandeleshwar. They also said that he was closed to hardened criminal Pappu, hailing from Brahmpuri area of Meerut. The cops suspected that’s some dispute with the gang members had led to killing of the above victim. A case has been registered and further investigations are on. The body was also sent for autopsy.
