Kidnapped kid rescued; Rs 50 lakh ransom demanded

kidnap_3Bhopal, Aug 24- Police today rescued a fifth standard student. The child was kidnapped 10 days back but, owing to police pressure, the culprits fled after abandoning the child, within a forested area in neighbouring Raisen District’s Garhi. Villagers alerted law enforcement authorities. A city police team brought Saket Nagar-resident Nishant Jhope back and handed him over to kin. The minor was physically unharmed while in captivity, leading to suspicion that persons close to the family were behind the crime. Until now, our priority was to rescue the boy safe and sound,” Deputy Inspector General Raman Singh Sikarwar told mediapersons here. Preliminary details provided by the victim indicated that the kidnappers were three. A ransom demand of Rs 50 lakh was made over phone on August 16 and a video sent showed Nishant being 'tortured'. More phone calls followed. Investigation revealed that the subscriber interface module card from which the calls were made was purchased in neighbouring Sehore District. Documents submitted while buying the card turned out to be fake ones.
