white-coat-436x300_tcJalandhar, Aug 8 - A local court today extended the remand of Junaid Ahmad, kingpin of the infamous kidney scam and Harbinder Kumar, head technician of Sunder Labs, while three others had been sent to jail for 14 days. Meanwhile, Police today arrested the sixth accused Neean Rani aka Sadhna, coordinator of the hospital in the infamous kidney scam, being probed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), constituted by Police Commissioner of Jalandhar Yurinder Singh Hayer. Police have arrested five accused earlier, soon after the Intelligence wing of Punjab Police had reported the matter to ADGP intelligence Punjab last month. The scam was reportedly exposed about 13 days back on July 27. Police had been granting time repeatedly to Dr Rajesh Aggarwal to submit his written statement and other record, pertained to the surgeries conducted by him. During the last 13 days, police had nominated 18 persons as accused, including those 12 people, who had either donated or received kidneys for transplantation at heavy expenses at Dr Agrawal's hospital. Six people have been arrested so far. SIT is trying to track the journeys undertaken by the medico to Srinagar and other cities out of Punjab. Dr Aggrawal is also trying to mislead the police by transferring all onus on the coordinator of the hospital Neena Rani aka Sadhna, who is said to have prepared forged files of the donors and receivers of Kidney. Police has not taken custody of Dr Aggarwal for intensive interrogation, which is very much needed to expose the entire scam involving kidney trade running into billions of rupees, as Dr Aggarwal and his partner Pankaj Trivedi had been constructing a hospital in Jalandhar and had also been on the panel of some big hospital in and outside Jalandhar.
